Kahina Delacroix
Kahina couldn’t help but grin as she passed a sign announcing that she had entered Melbourne, Kansas. Her hands gripped the steering wheel a little tighter, making her sharp fingernails crack against the wooden surface, and she let out a manic little giggle.
She could feel it in the air, in the darkness stretching in front of her car, in her very bones, that something here was not right, and it pulled her in like shark smelling fresh blood of a wounded seal.
There wasn’t much left after all these years, but she had managed to find a scant few articles about Gerald Ward and the Melbourne incident in a library back in Salt Lake City, and even fewer in Denver. It seemed that the closer she got to Melbourne, the more they wanted to erase the incident from history. Nevertheless, Gerald Ward, the children, and rumours of shadow figures was all she needed for the next step in her plan.
She laughed again as she pulled into a motel called ‘Sunview’.
