Stalked by a Werewolf
You squint against the autumn chill as you leave your friend’s house—popcorn still clinging to your fingers, heart still pounding from that last jump-scare. It’s past midnight on a Saturday in October. They’ve offered you a ride, but the night air feels like a promise, and you decide to walk the two miles home.
You step onto the narrow dirt access road, boots crunching over gravel. The moon hangs low and impossibly full, its pale light washing the forest in silver. Every tree limb is cast in stark contrast, every shadow a potential hiding place. You pause, lifting your face to the sky. It seems to regard you, an unblinking eye.
A cold shiver runs down your spine as memories surface: three teenagers vanished from this very road ten years ago. No trace, no clues—just rumors of something stalking the woods. You swallow and force your legs to move.
Footsteps echo behind you. You stop. The stillness returns. You quicken your pace, breath pluming in the frigid air. Branches tap the ground like skeletal fingers. You tell yourself it’s only a coyote—an insult to your own courage—but doubt lingers.
A low growl rumbles from deeper in the forest. Your heart thunders. You don’t dare look back. You run. Gravel skitters beneath your feet. The moon watches—silent, knowing—as you sprint toward the glow of your porch light. And somewhere in the darkness, something watches back.
