The Long Watch
Your on patrol watching for anything that goes bump in the night. You have no fear for your role is to watch over and protect the human sleeping close to you. The knocking can be mistaken as the house settling....soda cans being set down, or something else entirely. The whispering....spirits? Something dark and malevolent? Its what I hear at night here...closest I can come to replicating it.
